External and Internal Lubricants

External Lubrication
Abril lubricants are applied to the external surfaces of a polymer formulation in the solid phase, prior to a heating and masticating process:
- Prevents localized frictional overheating
- Improves pressure transmission and heat transfer in processing equipment
Abril lubricants exude to the surface in minute quantities immediately after injection moulding or extrusion:
- Enhances the appearance of the finished article
- Improves scuff resistance
- Provides slip and ant-block properties to films

Internal Lubrication
Abril wax based lubricants are designed to be substantially different from the polymer in their rheological properties permitting easier moulding and extrusion and reducing stress in the finished article after rapid cooling.
- Easier working at lower temperatures
- Better mould definition and appearance
- Increased heat resistance of mouldings
Abril lubricants convert rapidly from a rigid solid to a highly mobile liquid having high lubricity. This conversion occurs at a temperature that is low in terms of polymer melt temperature but high in terms of the ambient temperature range in which nearly all thermoplastic mouldings are required to perform.

Additives
Abril synthetic wax based lubricants have excellent wetting capabilities and assist in evenly dispersing pigments, fillers and reinforcing agents in the thermoplastic polymer. Abril lubricants carry the additives into the polymer matrix.
